Gameplay and MechanicsAt its core, FragPunk combines the strategic elements of tactical shooters like Valorant and Counter-Strike with the fast-paced action of arcade-style games. The primary game mode, Shard Clash, involves teams of five competing in an attack-versus-defense scenario where one team attempts to plant a bomb (referred to as a Converter) at one of multiple sites while the other team defends. What sets FragPunk apart is its innovative "Shard Card" system. Before each round, teams are presented with a selection of three cards that introduce various modifiers to the gameplay. These cards can significantly impact the round, offering effects such as increased headshot damage, exploding bullets, damage reduction bonuses, or even more outlandish changes like big head mode or turning the floor into ice. Players must spend limited resources to activate these cards, adding a layer of strategic depth as they decide how to best utilize their resources to gain an advantage. With over 70 Shard Cards planned for launch, FragPunk promises a high degree of variety and unpredictability. The effects of these cards range from simple statistical boosts to more complex alterations of the game environment and player abilities. Some cards might flip the world, causing disorientation, while others could chain lightning between enemies or spawn helpful plants. Heroes and WeaponsFragPunk features a diverse roster of 10 heroes, each possessing unique abilities that complement different playstyles. Players can also customize their loadouts with a variety of weapons, including shotguns, SMGs, LMGs, assault rifles, snipers, and secondary weapons. In Shard Clash mode, an economy system requires players to spend points on their primary weapon each round. If a player is eliminated during the round, that weapon becomes unavailable for subsequent rounds unless the team activates a "free-for-all" card5. Surviving a round allows the player to continue using the same weapon. Visuals and SoundFragPunk boasts a visually striking art style characterized by bright colors and distinct character designs. The maps are equally impressive, ranging from futuristic cities to alien landscapes.
